Making Mistakes
As a child I learned that it was a no no to make mistakes. If I made a mistake at times it felt like the world was falling. It was made a big to do. I never experienced abuse either physical or verbal but I got the message that you do not make mistakes in life! Many times as parents we want the best for our children. We want them to do better than what we did, but at what expense? Sometimes as people we feel like we need to be perfect and even as a mother it is worse. We go on Facebook groups to make sure that we are doing the right thing but there was a time when we didn’t have social media. We just tried to figure it out and that is what happens a lot as a mom. We get advice from other moms, but in the end we end up just trying it out, making a mistake and experimenting. That often feels uncomfortable for my clients to do but it’s the way to show our children that it is okay to make a mistake, fail and then get up and try again.
